Grown in mineral-rich volcanic soils at altitudes often exceeding 2,000 meters, the beans develop slowly, allowing sugars and complex aromatics to fully mature. The result is a cup known for its bright, tea-like clarity, floral aromatics, and layers of stone fruit, citrus, and berry sweetness—a sensory experience distinguishing Guji coffees from other Ethiopian origins like Yirgacheffe or Sidamo. Smallholder farmers in Gerba Dogo typically use traditional, organic farming practices and careful handpicking, followed by meticulous natural or washed processing, further enhancing the coffee’s nuanced flavours.
