The Terroir
Nelly Farm affiliated with the Federation of Coffee Growers of the Cerrado and have a designation of “Origin from the Cerrado Mineiro” Region, providing highly qualified coffee, produced in a responsible and ethical manner, with traceability and carrying unique characteristics of climate, soil and cultivation.
In 2005, the idea for a new venture arose at Fazenda da Lagoa. Located in the municipality of Presidente Olegário, known for its average altitude of 1000 meters, the farm’s owners decided to pursue an old passion for coffee cultivation. Previously, they had grown bananas, passion fruits, and other crops.
In 2009, they planted their first 28 hectares of coffee. Today, Fazenda da Lagoa has 130 hectares planted with the Catuaí 144 and IBC 12 coffee varieties. Initially, their lack of knowledge in the coffee sector brought challenges that they overcame through great effort, dedication, and by attending courses, lectures, farm visits, and studying literature. The obstacles were many, but their desire to succeed was greater.
They faced difficulties by tending to their endeavor with great affection, always seeking to learn and improve in every way. The crop is 100% irrigated and mechanized, with well-regulated machines for selective harvesting. Each year, the company has been progressing by incorporating new technologies and training its employees to maintain and acquire new certifications, thereby improving quality while observing environmental and labor requirements, as well as the well-being of all involved.
